Disclosures
Last updated: 2026-04-18.
Canadian Orange Historical Site participates in a small number of affiliate programmes. Clicking an affiliate link does not change the price paid; the commission, if any, is paid by the merchant out of its marketing budget.
Programmes
- Ancestry.ca — through the Impact affiliate network. Commission paid on signups. Links appear in the "Genealogical research tools" panel on individual biographical entries.
- Newspapers.com — same publisher account as Ancestry. Links appear where contemporary newspaper coverage of the subject is likely to be available.
- Amazon Associates (Amazon.com) — commission paid on qualifying purchases. Book recommendations in the "Further reading" section of entries are Amazon affiliate links where an ASIN is available. Non-affiliate alternatives (publisher or library links) are used where practical.
How affiliate links are marked
Affiliate links on this site carry the rel="sponsored nofollow noopener" attributes recommended by search engines. A short page-level disclosure is shown on any page that contains at least one affiliate link, and the full disclosure (this page) is linked from the footer of every page.
Editorial independence
No affiliate programme has editorial influence over the site. Figures and subjects are selected for historical significance and for the preservation of external citations, not for their commercial cross-sell potential. A "Further reading" entry is selected for the value of the work, not for its commission rate; where a book is out of print or better accessed through a library or special collection, we link there rather than to a retailer.
Not participating
- No pop-up upsells, email-capture modals, or interstitial advertising.
- No display advertising networks.
- No affiliate relationships with crypto, gambling, or high-risk financial products.
