What we collect

Analytics

This site uses Cloudflare Web Analytics for aggregate traffic measurement. The product does not set cookies, does not fingerprint visitors, and does not track across sites. It reports aggregate page views, referring domains, and country-level geography. Individual visitors cannot be identified from this data. Cloudflare processes this information on our behalf as a data processor. Because it cannot identify you, it runs for every visitor without asking permission.

Google Analytics (consent-based in the EU)

This site also uses Google Analytics 4 for a fuller picture of how the records are read. Unlike the Cloudflare tool, it sets a cookie and a random identifier, so we treat it as consent-based: in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, and Switzerland it stays off until you choose Accept on the banner, and no cookie or identifier is set unless you opt in; everywhere else it is on by default, which local privacy laws allow for first-party analytics, and you can turn it off any time below. Advertising and marketing signals are off everywhere. Google Analytics data may be processed by Google LLC in the United States under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework.

Server logs

Our hosting provider records standard server-access logs — IP address, user-agent, URL, response status, timestamp — for security and abuse- prevention purposes on their standard retention schedule. We do not mine or export this data.

Correspondence

If you write to contact@canadianorangehistoricalsite.com, your message is retained in our mailbox for as long as needed to act on it. We do not share email addresses, and we do not operate a mailing list.

Affiliate links

Certain outbound links on this site are affiliate links. When you follow one, the destination site may set cookies under its own privacy policy. We receive aggregate click and conversion reporting only; we do not receive personal information about individual visitors through these programs.

What we do not do

Because the site maintains no user accounts and collects no identifying data from visitors beyond standard server logs, in practice the information we hold about a given individual is limited to correspondence they have sent us. EEA visitors with unresolved concerns have the right of complaint to their national data-protection authority. Canadian visitors may escalate to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.

Retention

Analytics data is retained per Cloudflare's product defaults. Server logs follow the host's standard retention. Correspondence is retained in our mailbox indefinitely unless deletion is requested.

Changes

If our handling of information changes materially, we will update this page and revise the date at the top. Notable changes we would announce here include a change of hosting provider, the addition or removal of an analytics tool, and the addition or removal of an affiliate programme.
